Save Time, Money, And Effort Through Efficient Packing And Loading

Some time ago, you enlisted the services of a moving firm for international removals to Australia. Now, you just need to wait for the truck to arrive at your front door. But have you prepared your things for loading? Have you segregated them? Readying your items for loading is one of the most important elements of moving. Done right, the preparation can save a lot of time, money, and effort for both you and the movers.

Here are several practical guidelines on how to prepare your stuff for loading.

1. Disassemble modular furniture such as bed frames, sofas, and chairs. Tie the parts together and label them. This way, you save a lot of space and weight as you load them into the truck.

2. Put furniture padding to prevent wooden furniture from being damaged. You have the option to rent padding from the moving company or buy your own at a home-improvement store. Additionally, padding makes it easy for you to slide heavy objects into the truck.

3. Place the largest and heaviest items first such as the gas range, refrigerator, washing machine, and closet---usually any item that takes two or more people to move. Make sure that they are placed at the far wall closest to the cab and in their upright position. Make sure too that the truck is balanced by placing equally heavy objects on the opposite sides of the vehicle.

4. Load long items such as mattresses, long mirrors, sofas, headboards, and tabletops next. Put these items against the container truck's longest wall; this arrangement allows you to save space and keeps the items upright.

5. Next, load the largest and heaviest boxes at the center. Boxes that contain appliances should be placed at the top of other boxes to avoid damaging the items inside. Work your way down to the lightest boxes.

6. Finally, place fragile items or irregularly shaped items.
